hi my name is Amanda and i am a serial texter...textaholic...miss text alot ( you get the idea) no matter what way you put it my primary means of communication would be via text message. i also have a habit of texting while driving...BAD BAD BAD. i was texting one of the most important people in my life last night on my way home from work. he asked me if i was still working and i replied that no, i was on my way home. he proceeded to call me and sternly but with concern ask me " how many times have i told you no textin and drivin??" (he's always telling me to "be safe") this conversation went on to him telling me about a girl named Alex Brown and that he was going to make me take a pledge. (the gears in my head started working overtime as usual so i did a little research) i hate to be yelled at but i didn't take it that way, he was only doing it to keep me safe. for that i love him. he mentioned an episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Ty Pennington ( who happens to eerily resemble said important person..I'm serious its really scary)
anyway on an episode they did a make over on the home of Alex Browns parents. Alex passed away in a one person car accident because she was texting while driving. Such a beautiful young women doing what countless people do everyday....and will continue to do daily and never lose their lives. i hate that it took this to make me stop doing something a loved one has repeatedly asked me to do that i couldn't do it for myself!! So now i ask all of you to head to this website and Take The Pledge!! Make your family members and friends do it too!! let your loved ones know that your being safe.
